Who are we?

Taradale Pottery Club is an active group of clay enthusiasts and potters who make their own art using clay. We encourage and support people wanting to learn how to use clay to make sculptures and functional ware.

We host a full time table of classes to learn how to make things with clay. We encourage anyone to come and take part, beginners are welcome.

Our weekly 'Club Day' is on Tuesday mornings from 10am. This is very popular, and has been running for over twenty years.

We host a ‘Open Studio’ session on Tuesday evenings when non-members can come and check out the club facilities and do a casual session for $20, free for members. Clay and glazing additional.

To join the club please go to our club registration form and membership information.

The club joining fee is $120 until December 2024. The club fees for 2025 will be $160.

Firing your work - the club has a range of kilns for our members to fire their work.

Electric Kilns - we have 3 kilns that operate constantly with club volunteers who load the kilns on your behalf. Members can book kilns for their own work if required. Our electric kilns are fired to cone 6.

Woodfiring - We usually fire up our wood kiln once a year and encourage everyone to be involved. You can make work to include in the firing, become a kiln stoker, help organise and load the kiln.

Clay - the club has a range of clay available for purchase to members. Most clay is purchased from Decopots in Palmerston North - we sell for cost price plus freight. Currently we stock White Stoneware, Standard stoneware, Speckled Stoneware and PW20. We do not sell clay to the general public.
